Story

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN...

We have been working very hard to meet our target, we have done a public collection at Kings Cross, a jeans day at work and even a charity gig! With such a short timeframe left to meet our target we now need all the help we can get, so please give generously! Many thanks in advance from the Team.

Thank you for supporting us.

The Sailors’ Society provides support and practical help for merchant seafarers around the world, and is therefore relevant to the firm’s business as a leading maritime law firm. The Society operates in 100 ports and 30 countries through its network of Port Chaplains and centres. It provides services in port through its Port Chaplains and Centres and offers practical help and welfare, spiritual support, financial assistance and family liaison services. The Charity supports crew members of all ranks, without distinction for faith, denomination, ethnic background or nationality.

The Society operates a number of seafarer centres around the world. At these centres, seafarers can access telephones and the internet. Many provide food and refreshments in a place of relaxation and protection. Some offer recreational facilities, including table tennis, pool and television.

Port Chaplains visit ships, offering support to crew members.  Chaplains dispense phone cards, news prints from home and local knowledge, and also offer transport to nearby seafarer centres mentioned above.  Specifically, the Society also provides support to families of seafarers affected by piracy and bereaved relatives.
