I am riding in The George Frewer Charity race at Newbury on 4th July 3013. It's the same one that my father did last year.
I started riding out a few months ago, with Charlie Egerton in Lambourn. I was dragged out of bed at some unearthly hour and we set off for the Lambourn gallops. Having never ridden a race horse before I was extremely nervous and listened intently to all the "advice" my father gave me on the way over!! However, as I reached the 4 furlong mark at Mak 4, all was forgotten as I tried in vain to hold the bloody thing!!! Not quite as well schooled as my eventer! My pride was somewhat salvaged by the fact the the lad riding with me fell off at the top, so at least I felt relieved that I was spared that!!
A few months later, things have drastically improved. I have been riding out locally with Ralph Beckett, who has been extremely supportive and I am feeling a little less like a pea on a drum!! Charlie Egerton has very kindly lent me a horse so I am hoping you will be kind enough to sponsor me.
The race is in aid of the Mary Hare School in Newbury. Mary Hare is a Charity which supports deaf children and the school is run on charitable donations. The school is currently coming to the end of an appeal to raise funds for a new boarding house for the 16 years old year 11 pupils. £1.8 million has been raised and this charity race night is the final big push to raise the remaining £200,000 required.
If you would like to come and watch, the race is at Newbury racecourse at 5.50pm on Thursday 4th July.
Thank you in advance for reading this and hopefully supporting me.
With Love

I am riding in the the George Frewer Memorial Race on Thursday 4th July 2013. Mary Hare has been chosen to be the main beneficiary for the 2013 George Frewer Charity race night at Newbury Racecourse on 4th July 2013, which is now in its fifth year. The aim of the evening is to raise money for charities that benefit disadvantaged children and young people.
Mary Hare School is the largest non-maintained special school in the UK, serving the needs of profoundly and severly deaf children from all over the country. Pupils learn through listening and speaking, with full access to the GCSE and A level curriculum. Most of those leaving at the age of 18 years go on to university and further education.
