Acid violence is a form of premeditated violence, usually against women, involving throwing corrosive acid at the face of the victim. Acid violence rarely kills but always destroys lives, often young lives.
The Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) recruits volunteer plastic surgeons, nurses and counsellors, and provides victims with other essential medical care.
ASTI helps in other ways too, addressing the psychological, emotional and economic consequences of acid violence.
To date, ASTI and the local Acid Survivors Foundations (ASFs) in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Uganda and Cambodia have helped thousands of acid attack victims rebuild their lives. ASTI is dedicated to helping the victims of acid attacks and fighting acid violence wherever it takes place.
