I'm going without sanitary products for the duration of my next period. There will be blood. It will be highly uncomfortable and embarrassing, but that is the reality for thousands of women worldwide. 

Only 12 % of women, worldwide, have access to sanitary products. 70% of the world's poorest people are women and girls, and they are regularly missing school or work because they are on their period. In Africa, women in rural areas can resort to using rags or leaves and other uncomfortable methods, all of which increase the chance of infection.  

And in the UK, women are shamed and taxed for a bodily function. Tampons and pads are classed as "non essential luxury items" - exactly how non essential is it? What happens if women don't indulge in this luxury?
