At short notice got place on London Marathon which was held on Sunday 21st April to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Marie Curie Cancer Care provides end of life care to our patients and their families with medical, social and emotional support. As much of this as possible is in the patients home.

Every £20 donated funds 1 hour of direct patient care.

While some lucky patients can be treated and freed of their disease long term, too many cannot.

As a surgeon, I spend much of my time with patients suffering from cancer. My own mother died of lung cancer 8 weeks after being diagnosed.

I am very aware of patient's needs and the enormous part played by the palliative care service.
