Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This page is in memory of my sister Beverley Kate Lever who died of meningitis aged 12.
Kate (as she was known as) was a beautiful girl who was part of a close family and who loved life. She loved dancing, swimming and gymnastics and was in the girl guides. She had many friends at school and had everything to live for.
This terrible disease took Kate so quickly, we had no idea what she was suffering from as there was little information regarding the symptoms of the disease, even the GP's didn't really know what Kate had.
The money we will raise goes directly to The Meningitis Trust which is funded almost entirely by voluntary donations. This money helps research on the after-effects and after care of meningitis, as vaccine research in now in clinical trial stage with pharmaceutical companies. It has a children's helpline and specialist children's website which offers information on signs and symptoms of meningitis. Helps to distribute 1 million symptom cards and 500,000 pieces of other literature to the public every year. This is just a small segment of what the Meningitis Trust does.
