Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In August 2013 I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Instead of doing a very special long planned for high altitude trek in Nepal I found myself at the start of what turned out to be 16 months of treatment. Those of you who know me will be well aware that getting through some of the treatment has been very difficult. I couldn't have done it without the support of family, friends and all the wonderful staff at the Oncology Units in Kendal and Lancaster, and Cancer Care in Kendal. The services and support provided to so many of us are truly fantastic. All this is free and they really need and deserve all the financial support we can raise. The alternative therapies and myriad of support groups are invaluable and make a massive difference. I can't thank them enough and want to put something back if I can. Although I have only just finished treatment and have another 4 years + of hormone therapy, I have, of course, kept hiking as much as possible and am looking forward to the 15km walk (though not the tarmac!). I am sure keeping as fit as possible (thanks to the Vault Gym for keeping me positive and on track! )has proved to be hugely beneficial. I am now looking forward to trekking in Peru and Nepal later in the year. My motto - anything is possible!
