Hello (again) to my generous supporters! The trip was completed Friday 3rd September and a tough challenge it was, especially the first 3 days with inclement weather and a fearsome headwind, making the 10 mile ascent of the Drumochter Pass a real challenge! As I headed east at Inverness the weather turned and I really enjoyed the sunshine and no wind, which made the journey a real joy. I saw parts of Scotland I thought I would never see, and wildlife from Capercaillies to badgers, truly amazing. The support from "passers by" as well as the various B+B proprietors we met was inspiring, their generosity and fantastic hospitality was very heartening.
I am now six pounds lighter, this despite eating for Scotland, and my thighs are like girders!
Many thanks to Kevin Sayers for his company on the first day, the hills were not great for me, but not a problem for Kevin it seemed! And also to Vincent Taggart and Sandro Formisano on the last 28 miles of the last leg, we encountered some gruelling inclines which some of the 3 of us found a challenge, made it though! And the funniest thing on the last day was hearing Sandro attempting to pronounce "Auchtermuchty", hilarious from an Italian/Huddersfield raised boy!!
The fund is rising thanks to your amazing support, my heartfelt thanks go to you all for your financial aid for maggies, but there is still lots of time to donate, if you haven't done so already, do feel free.
As of today's date, 13th September, I can confirm that your generosity has allowed maggies to be visited and the professionals there to be consulted by some 210 people and their families enduring cancer, a tremendous result created by your kindness, thank you so much. It makes the slog up the Drumochter Pass into the wind, bearable!
Thank you all once again,
James
