The Plinth Update
Thank you so much to everyone who has so generously sponsored me. I had the most wonderful hour. I still can't believe it really happened, after months of practice and worry, and I LOVED every minute, managed to do a few paintings and even auction them. It was the very best fun. Thank you especially to all the friends and family who managed to be there.
You can still see me by clicking www.oneandother.co.uk/participants/jane_f. I follow on from the woman in the white coat. You may need to move the slider a little to the right to get me going!

Antony Gormley creator of The Angel of the North has come up with this wonderful idea for a piece of living art. For 100 days, every hour, 24 hours a day someone will occupy a place on the Fourth Plinth (an empty plinth in ). They can do what they like whilst up there, and I am thrilled to have been picked.
I have decided to do a series of large drawings in acrylic ink using a pipette. Ever the optimist I had imagined doing about one a minute and auctioning them for charity BUT I’ve been out practicing and had to scale down my ambitions! Rather than the 60 I had planned I think realistically it will be more like 4 maybe less if it’s windy or rainy (I’ve yet to practice in those conditions).
Whilst up there I would like to raise some money for a charity that was set up after the terrible fire at Bradford City Football ground 25 years ago. in which 56 people died and over 200 were injured some with horrific burns. The Burns Unit was established,to help these people, with money from public donations and the tremendous efforts of many local groups. Since 1985 the Unit has remained partly funded by voluntary donations.
In and burns are responsible for the hospitalisation of over 10,000 people each year. Many of these are children and many are preventable, 30 years ago deaths from burns numbered 2,000 annually. Today this number has fallen to 600 largely due to better understanding and treatment in the post-burn period. Without research this would not have been possible.
However, there is still much room for improvement, particularly in the prevention and treatment of some of the later problems of burns such as adverse scar formation, a source of great physical and psychological disability.
Current research in this Unit is focusing on the problem of wound healing and scarring and this is why your donations are so vital.
Donations
.Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
I would be really grateful for any sponsorship that you may like to give - either through this justgiving site, or alternatively I'm more than happy to do it the old fashioned way!
Thank you to everyone who has been so generous in sponsoring me so far, for those who haven't - it's not too late!. I'll put some pictures up here when I work out how to.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
