Michael John Jeffries (Known as Mike) was diagnosed on 26th August 2009 with Pancreatic Cancer. He spent two weeks at Chesterfield Royal where he was told that treatment was not an option. He was then transferred for Palliative care at Ashgate Hospice. He then started to received the care and attention he so rightly deserved. All the Doctors, Nurses, and other staff (mainly volunteers) treated Mike as a person and not a number and that the care he received was second to none, I cant thank them enough for making Mikes final weeks comfortable I will be in their debt for ever. They rushed his discharge through and provided all the necessary equipment to allow him to spend his final days at home. Ashgate are a charity based hospice and they need all the financial support and help to continue providing that special care and attention to anyone who needs it, without them it would not have been possible for this to happen.
He came home on 17th September 2009 after spending 8 days at Ashgate. Sadly Mike passed away at home on 25th September 2009.
Any donations made to Ashgate Hospice will allow them to continue with the amazing care and attention they provide to all their patients.
I would like to thank all the staff at Ashgate for the support and help they gave both Mike, myself and family through this cruel disease.
