My story
Thank you everyone! (18th April 2011)
I finished the marathon in just over 5 hours. The day was very hot and sunny with temp peaking at about 28C in the city during the race. It was very painful but worth every metre to help these people. I can't walk very well today but I'm hoping tomorrow my legs will improve!
There is an article on the Shelterbox site about the event:
http://www.shelterboxusa.org/news.php?id=652
and on the left of this page, I've attached a new video about how the boxes are being used in Japan.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who helped thiis be such a great success. I couldn't have done it without you! Hve a look at the new photo with the finishers medal. I couldn't say much more than 'Gracias' when they presented me with it at the end.
Thanks again and best wishes to all,
(A very exhausted) Jeff

Hi everyone,
I'm sure you all know by now that on March 11th, a huge 9.0-magnitude Earthquake hit off the coast of Eastern Japan.
The quake itself and the ensuing tsunami are estimated to have killed more than 15,000 people, with the death toll rising every day.
An estimated 500,000 million people had their homes destroyed. In the Northern prefectures where the damage is worst, the temperatures are below freezing and without help many more will die.
So.. I'm going to run the 2011 Madrid Full Marathon (42.195 km) to raise money for a charity called 'Shelter Box'.
It is run by a British guy and the way they help is delivering Disaster Response Boxes with everything a family needs to survive in this type of situation. Please check out the Video on this page to check out what they do.
I don't like asking for sponsorship money but if everyone gave a pound or two I'd be well on the way to reaching my target.
If you donate £1, the charity gets £1.28 (if you're a UK tax payer and tick the box. You can even use Paypal - simple and easy (but when it first asks you if you have an account, it means a 'justgiving account', so choose 'No' and then click on the Paypal icon.
Thanks for reading :o)
