Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have taken the challenge of running The Virgin London Marathon for The St Clare Hospice. This will be my 1st ever Marathon!!. I am very excited about it and have been putting alot of practice in by running lots of races. I am planning on running a sub 3.00hr for my 1st!!
I ran the Silverstone Half Marathon on Sunday 14th March. The course took us around the track that the F1 cars would normally be going around 150mph and faster!! it had just under 6000 people running and the support from the crowd really gave me a buzz which made me run even faster!! I cant wait to see what London Marathon will be like !!. I promised a few people that i would make some vrooomm vroooommm noises as i cornered the chicanes...although i did feel very silly it was good fun doing it.
I have had a knee injury over the last few weeks and have been to see a physio so it was interesting to see how the knee would react to the run. So far so good! My final finish position was 10th which i was very pleased with to say the least! pics will follow for proof of the race.
Sunday 28th March
This was the annual St Clares 10k race at Hastingwood. I ran it the prevoius year and finished 6th so was hoping to better that with a hopeful podium finish!!!
I had ran 20miles on the saturday and the idea behind this was to feel what its like to have the mileage in your legs whilst still trying to compete in a race! i felt pretty good in all honesty..the few inclines on the race course hurt a little but mostly body felt good.
It was nice to be involved with a race where i saw so many Harlow Club Runners...lots of cheering on as you come through to the end which really helps. The conditionds were good not to hot/cold and a little windy. I started out and just went for it to see how long i could hold on to the front pack for....enjoyed the race and i finished 3rd overall in a time of 35.34, so was very pleased with myself, also picked up a prize for 1st mens team!! next year i have been told to stop messing about and finish 1st!!
Well i hope this gives a little insight into what im up to in the next few weeks, appreciate the time you have spent having a read.
....pics will follow shortly after!!
St Clare Hospice are specialists in caring for people who have illnesses such as cancer, neurological disease or organ failure. They help treat the symptoms, for example, sickness or tiredness. They also have people to talk to and ask advice from, people who can help them stay in their home and keep their independence.
The services they provide are free to patients and their carers but cost them over £2 million every year. The NHS only pays around 30% of this huge sum. That means they have to raise significant amounts of money each and every year. Which is were the fundraising and me running 26.2 miles comes in!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Clare West Essex Hospice Care Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
