Would you know the symptoms of a brain tumour?
Do you know how much help Brain Tumour Research receive?
Well I didn't know I had a Brain Tumour until I had a hearing test in February 2014. I was diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma and was told it had probably been growing for around 10 years. My world crumbled and I was devastated. Still am if I am honest. Then followed a whirlwind of 8 weeks before my wonderful surgeon and his teams took 17 hours to take out most of it. This was closely followed by post operative meningitis.
I struggle to accept the enormity of the diagnosis and constantly worry that today is my last day. I didn't think anything like this would happen to me as most people do.
I can honestly say that the care I received from my surgeon Mr Bahl and his team of doctors and nurses was second to none. I couldn't have asked for any more other than to have never had the tumour in the first place. That's life I suppose.
I was shocked to realise that although having a brain tumour is probably one of the conditions most people would fear that they receive very little help to fund their research. (1%) I don't know why I got it? I don't know if I could ever have stopped it? I don't know if it will grow bigger and I will go through this all again? I don't know lots of stuff about it but with a little help from all of us we could find the answers.
Please help Brain Tumour Research help everyday people like me and you. It would really be appreciated.
