Hi everyone,
I fundraise for a charity that aims to create sickle cell awareness, counselling and advice. Sickle cell is a red blood disease that affects countless people yet receives very little recognition.
My biggest message to all is to make yourselves aware, advertise the pressing need for ethnic minorities to add themselves to bone marrow transplant lists as well as the need for better care for patients in Africa. It's management and treatment are very expensive, and much needs to be done to push for subsidised treatment for patients who need haematologists, pain management specialists, blood transfusions, antibiotics, organ analysis and transplants and so much more.
This page is in the memory of all those who have lost their battle to this condition, and others like myself who continue to live with it. As we all hope that there will one day be a cure, we need to support the ongoing initiatives and societies that seek to make living with it easier. I appreciate everything that the sickle cell societies do, and hope that where you all can, you could make a donation to help them carry on with their amazing work.
Love, Jedi.
