In May this year I am going to complete the West Highland Way trek from Glasgow to Fort William. 5 days hiking with a tent, map and compass and basic rations, NO B&B, HOSTELS or BAG CARRIERS!!
This is a challenge I have been planning to do for about seven years now but I always put it off for one reason or another. One of these reasons was a motorbike crash that kept me off my feet for about 6 months, this made me realise that we take a lot of things for granted in life...even something as simple as walking. Since I recovered and got back on my feet I appreciate every step again and I want to make the most of them.
The same could be said about the fund raising part of my challenge. I have always wanted to do my bit and raise money for good causes but I haven't always made the time. Like most people I make donations to the mainstream charities throughout the year, but with your help I can hopefuly use my time and effort to raise a lot of money for the Everyman charity I have chosen.
I had not heard of Everyman before I started looking for a good cause and that is partly why I chose it. With one man dying from prostate cancer every hour in the UK and testicular cancer becoming the most common cancer in men aged 15-44, I feel it is very important to raise the awareness amongst men and to raise money to fund further research to combat these killer cancers. With 95% of donations going towards research, you can be sure that every penny you donate could not be put to better use.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my just giving page, please give what you can and sponsor me now...
