My story
I did it! Just over a week ago I completed my mission to run the Silverstone Half Marathon. It didn't all go to plan but I crossed the line and thats all that matters.
I think I did Grandpa's memory proud though as I injured my leg just 1 mile in but still completed the remaining 12.1 miles even though I had to run/limp/walk it! After 2 hours 56 minutes and 30 seconds it was at last all over :D
I'm now left with a limp (that is slowly improving) from some muscle & ligament damage and a twisted knee. I've got the running bug badly though so can't wait to get back out there again.

Sadly in November of last year I lost my Grandpa to complications caused by a late diagnosis of bowel cancer. I wanted to do something to stop others from suffering as he did. So I have decided to run my first half marathon in his memory.
I’m a massive Formula One fan so the Silverstone Half Marathon seemed the obvious choice! Hopefully running on the circuit will provide added excitement & adrenalin needed to help me complete my challenge!
I will be raising much needed funds for the charity Bowel & Cancer Research. Bowel cancer is the 2nd biggest cancer killer! So please give what you can, it’s all much appreciated.
A big thank you to all who have donated so far and helped me reach the £400 which was the minimum I needed to raise to be able to take part.
This charity are small but they put all of their dontations directly into research so every penny really does count.
