UPDATE-Unfortunatley the event organisers have cancelled the event at short notice. Ben and i will be completing our swim in Coniston next weekend 10.10.09. If you are all still happy to donate, this would be greatly appreciated, however, i'm looking into how you can be refunded. Cheers, Jen.
Due to the huge success of last Year's Don't Duck the Issue event (i raised £200 for Aspire and £230 for YMCA), I will be heading back into the water again this year....and the boy is coming too!
On 3rd October 09, Both Ben and I will be entering the nicely chilled water of Lake Windermere.This year I am aiming to swim 4.5km-If my body doesn't fall to pieces (I'll definately swim 3km) with Ben aiming to complete a 3km swim (definately completing 1.5km).
It's going to be cold, murky and very very wet.......bring it on!
We are raising money for Lancaster and Morecambe's YMCA (as well as Aspire), who are raising money and awareness of young person homelessness within the city. Currently there are 120 young persons aged between 16-18 without stable accommodation. Each duck that is rescued from Lake Windermere will respresent a young person.
So please, stick your hands in your pockets and throw a few pennies our way.
Feel free to come and support/ laugh us along on the day. After all, The idea of Ben in his wetsuit should have you throwing money at us!
