A very long walk,over a short space of time,up hills wonderful,can I bring a Sherpa? NO
We have walked up hills before. Yes back to the nurses home in Bristol eating peaches. That was 43 years ago now we are old er,patently not wiser and certainly not fitter!
Why this? What we knew about Nepal you could write on a postage stamp.Everest,Sherpas and a chequered polical history. Now we know better. Poverty, poor access to fragmented healthcare and a poor life expectancy are the stark reality, with care of the disabled and disadvantaged way down the priority of need.
These two old ducks, scuse me spring chickens! wanted to find a way to say thanks for a privileged life working with families who can access good healthcare as their right. We wanted to fund raise for a charity where we could see exactly where the money would go So.....................Thank-you Helen for showing us what can be achieved in Nepal by the provision of a safe happy home and access to health care.
We know that money raised by us will go towards the builing and running of a second orphanage catering for both able-bodied and disabled children. This project will empower the local community to care for the children ensuring that they have access to education and health in a safe environment.Projects like this are an integral part of Nepal having a New Future.

About the West Highland Way
Scotland’s first official long distance route links Milngavie to Fort William – a distance of 154km (96 miles) - from the northern outskirts of Glasgow, to the foot of Ben Nevis at Fort William.
The Route passes through Mugdock Country Park, follows the shores of Loch Lomond, passing Ben Lomond, through Glen Falloch and Strathfillan, crossing Rannoch Moor, past Buachaille Etive Mor to the head of Glencoe, climbing the Devil’s Staircase, descending to sea level to cross the River Leven at the head of Loch Leven before entering Lairigmor and Glen Nevis.
The terrain ranges from lowland moors, dense woodland and rolling hills, to high mountainous regions in the Scottish Highlands. These environments provide habitats for a diverse range of wildlife species, both flora and fauna.
