In March 2010, I plan on visiting Tanzania for approximately 2 weeks to help build a school for the children. We will be sleeping in tents (yikes!!), taking "bucket baths", and working all day in the sun to provide the most basic educational structure for children - a school.
Your donation will help contribute to the school infrastructure that will be built before my arrival. Your donation will also contribute to the gathering the supplies necessary to plaster, paint and decorate the walls (alphabet and numbers on the walls!!!), sand down desks for the children to use, installing a playground for recess (remember those?!!), and possibly installing a water harvesting tank. The extent to which we reach any of these activities depends on the amount we receive in donations.
Living in London, I have come to realise how blessed I have been to receive such a strong education, and where that has ultimately led me. While approaching the BIG 30 I started reflecting on what I can do to start giving back to those less fortunate. This event fell into my lap. I thought it was an amazing cause, offers a perfect opportunity, and provides life long memories of helping those who have a fraction of what I have. Working with the locals in Tanzania (likely mostly women and children) and helping to build a school for the chilldren is the only way I wish to spend that birthday.
