My dear friends and family,

Once again I am endeavouring to raise some money for charity by doing something I love...but this will be a challenge I assure you!

I recently met a fellow climber called Jo who was desperately trying to rally climbers to help money for a really fantastic charity called Temwa.  Here follows a snippet from their website:

Temwa is a UK-based organisation that raises funds to implement community-based projects in Malawi, southern Africa.

The first project is based in an area called Usisya, on the north shore of Lake Malawi. This remote region of 56 villages has no electricity, no running water and is severely affected by the AIDS epidemic. NGOs (non governmental organisations) working in the region, as well as the local government, strongly encouraged Temwa in the selection of this area, due to its strong need for basic development.

Overseen by a programme and project manager in Malawi, Temwa consists of a series of programmes that are aimed at providing sustainable community-driven development in four key areas:

Health education Skills development Agriculture and irrigation Schools support

We have 16 full time employees in Malawi, who manage and ensure the safe keeping of the projects in Malawi. The UK team consists of a dedicated group of volunteers, an experienced board of trustees, and a UK Manager and UK Project Administrator, who are employed on a part-time basis. This means minimal costs, with the majority of funds raised going directly to the programmes in Malawi.

Mission Statement

The Temwa mission is to create hope for the future among the people of Malawi by:

Providing an infrastructure to support Malawian families facing financial and humanitarian hardship, irrespective of religious orientation.

Creating partnerships and programs to equip the local population with the skills and resources to ensure ongoing health, education, and financial stability for families and the wider community

So always keen for a challenge, especially for a good cause I am going to join forces with lots of other climbers and together we will try to climb 8848m...the equivalent of scaling Mount Everest (but slightly easier at the indoor wall and with the knowledge that tea is never too far away...).

Any donation would be wonderful for this really worthwhile organisation.

Many thanks,

Love to all Jess x x
