Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

7th September 2010.

I have just come from a meeting of the Hull & District Respiratory Group where I was presented with a cheque for £100 raised by the local Breath Easy group. I would like to say a personal thanks to each and every member and thier families, who I know give an amazing amount of support.

Now a word, if a may, in thanks to my collegues at Crewe. I have recently learned that my collegues at UKHQ in Crewe raised and donated the sum of £570 in support of this fund raising event. Thanks to you all for your time, effort and genorosity.

Announcement;

I am currently planning next years fund raising event which will be a 4 day dash (cycling) from London to Paris. I have already signed up a couple of family members to join me. Anyone else interested?

8TH July 2010.

May I say a very big thankyou to all those who have helped me in my fund raising attempt.

I completed the 993 mile cycle from Lands End to John O Groates on 15th May 2010 feeling very tired but exhilarated. It was without doubt the greatest physically and mentally challenging thing I have ever done. I could not have possibly got through it without the constant support of friends at home, the Discover Adventure's finest crew and the wonderful people who shared my journey.

A word if I may about those good people. 19 ladies and gentlemen set off on a journey to test themselves to the limits in order to raise funds for thier chosen charities. There were a few members of the team already well aquainted, but in the main we were all strangers at the start. By the end of day one we were a team. Peoples strenghts and weaknesses soon showed and were just as soon absorbed into the group. For myself, I was by far the least experienced cyclist. This did not matter to anyone including myself. I soon found the advice and encouragment of my new friends more than made up for that. I would hope that my natural cheerfulnes and sense of humour repayed thier kindness.

This was, without a doubt, the most rewarding experience I could possibly imagine and would encourage anyone to get involved in such an event. I am already planning next years challenge. Shouldn't you?

About the charity.

The BLF is dedicated to help and support all those who suffer from any form of lung decease and their families. Through their support groups ‘Breath Easy’ and ‘Baby Breath Easy’ they bring comfort and education to patients, information and advice to anyone who needs it, and working with trusts and medical teams raise awareness of lung deceases to all. It is estimated that one in seven families in the UK are affected by lung decease. The BLF also fund world renown research into lung decease.

For further information about the BLF go to www.lunguk.org

About the target.

I have set my sights high £20100 (again if I say it quickly). I have had an idea! To celebrate 2010 fund raising. Could we distribute 2010 sponsor forms and ask anyone who is willing to raise a minimum of just £10 per form. This way, we can surpass this target with ease. I am, with the help of friends and family, organising local events to further boost funds, and would ask, if you feel able, to do the same. The BLF are being very supportive and if you need any help or promotional aids please feel free to leave your contact information at jimebenge@googlemail.com and I will get back to you.

About me.

Although in the past I have been a keen cyclist I have in recent years taken to other outdoor activities. So, I started off a couple of months ago a little rusty. Nonetheless, it has been a boyhood ambition of mine to make this trip. For this reason I have made the decision to fund this event myself. This means that every penny raised goes directly to BLF.

What inspired me.

I see in my work, as a medical engineer for the Home Oxygen Service, what amazing work is being done by respiratory nurses, doctors and hospitals. The support they get from BLF and the unlimited praise heaped upon them from patients and families alike. If I may, I would also say a word for my colleagues, be them office based or those who visit patients on a regular basis, who work tirelessly to achieve the very high standards set by the above named.

Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts. I will be updating this site regularly so please drop in again.

Many Thanks for the first on-line donation Chris. And Thanks to JS and all at Air Products for the launch of the fund raising for the company.
