Last year, I was lucky enough to attend the presentation to the charities. They each gave a few minutes to explain what the money will mean for them. In this world of seemingly never-ending bad news on the TV, stress and worry, it was heart-warming to see what a difference can be made by the kindness of people like yourself. Please do give generously - every penny counts.
Welcome, and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, now on my third year for this fantastic charity cycle ride.
This year, I'll be riding with Jack (4 years old) and Oli (nearly 3) on the back of my bike.
Last year, Jack managed 10 miles on his tagalong (see photo) before needing to rest in the child seat for the next 10. This year, he's going to need all your support to tough it out for the full 20 miles because his younger brother Oli will be in the seat. The addition of 6 stone or so to my not inconsiderable bulk makes this quite a sweat of a ride! (I'm hoping that one day Jack will actually help me by pedalling up the hills, not just down them.)
The St. Albans Rotary club organises this annual event. Their web page provides more detail about the 6 charities benefitting from this year's proceeds. Grove House is one charity I think is especially worthwhile, providing care for patients and families living with cancer and other terminal illnesses.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
