2010 TAUNTON MARATHON · 11 April 2010

The Fishermen's Mission is the only national charity working solely to support active and retired fishermen and their families by providing practical, financial and pastoral support. Fishing is dangerous and unpredictable. Hardship and tragedy are facts of everyday life in the UK’s fishing industry.

If you know me, then you know I'm passionate about fish and seafood, but I'm even more concerned about the welfare of our fisherfolk throughout the UK. Please help me to help this most important of fishing community charities.

The UK fishing industry has experienced significant job losses over recent years. There are many elderly retired fishermen and also the families of those who have been lost at sea or who have suffered injury at work. The Mission family provides much-needed support in our fishing communities. This support takes many forms including Christian pastoral care and practical financial help as and when necessary. The need continues for a lifetime after tragedy strikes, so the Mission's work is never completed.

Thanks to the support of people like you, last year with my daughter, Jo, I completed the London Marathon and raised almost £3,000 for the Mission.

This year, on April 11th, Jo and I will tackle the Taunton Marathon.

With your generous help and donations, I would like to raise even more and exceed £3,000 this year for the Mission.

Please help this worthy cause.

Best fishes,

Jim and Jo.
