Update: Skydive took place 23/05/10 woohoo!!
The skydive was an amazing scary and wonderful experience ! The initial freefall felt a bit like being sucked into a giant hoover... loved the speed. The weather was fantastic..such a beautiful day.. blue skies no cloud  sun beaming down all day.

Thanks to the team at skydive southcoast.

In March 2008 I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C (HCV), a virus which is transmitted by blood to blood contact. It causes inflammation of the liver and can lead to life-threatening liver damage. I had felt unwell for a few years with symptoms such as fatigue, hairloss (I think probably caused by immune response), alcohol intolerance and brain fog. Having not been in a 'high risk group' I was unaware that I could have contracted it. After years of having a whole range of standard tests done (eg thyroid function and diabetes), alongside it being suggested my symptoms were due to wheat and yeast intolerance, and trying various diets that clearly didn't work, I finally saw a foreward thinking GP who had me tested .His awareness of HCV and the symptoms I was experiencing paved the way for me being diagnosed with HCV which I am thankful for, otherwise my liver would have continued to be damaged by the virus. I underwent the 6 months combo treatment, chemotherapy and anti-virals  and have now achieved SVR (sustained viral response) so I'm happy to say I'm free of the virus and my liver is doing a good job of repairing some of the damage done.

Raising awareness of this potentially life threatening disease is now one of my priorities. To raise awareness could actually save someone's life...HCV has been called 'the silent killer' as many people who contract it don't have any symptoms until they arrive at the point where their liver has been severly damaged, sometimes to the extent of developing cirrhosis and even liver cancer. The Hepatitis C Trust does great work supporting people with the disease alongside offering support to those who undertake the what can be, tough treatment .They also do a good job of raising the publics awareness of HCV. ..so I'd like to raise money to help support their efforts.

Thanks to my family, friends and the Nomads (www.hepcnomads.co.uk) for getting me through the treatment.
