Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you are aware, my husband Nick was born with a rare congenital heart condition called CCTGA (Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries), which is a life limiting, and for some sufferers, a debilitating condition.
There are estimated to be over 250,000 adults born with a heart condition in the UK and over half will experience medical and social problems at some time in their lives.
The Somerville Foundation is a charity that was created by Dr Jane Somerville in 1993, who's vision was to create a national support network, and fund medical research, for adolescent and adult congenital heart patients. Their mission is to ensure that GUCH (Grown Up Congenital Heart) patients are able to access every opportunity, are free from discrimination and are fully supported through their lives.
In October 2017, to help raise vital funds for The Somerville Foundation's fantastic work, I have challenged myself to complete a week long trek along the Great Wall of China. This trek will include long stretches of wall that are unrenovated, crumbling and overgrown with steep drops either side, and a series of vigorous upwards and downward climbs of over 10,000 relentless steps (I'm just not telling my legs yet as they still like to protest about the Brighton Marthon charity challenge I set myself in 2014!!).
I am incredibly grateful for your support and kind donation for this charty that is so close to our hearts.
