We are the trusted voice on child poverty. On average eight children in a classroom of 30 are growing up in poverty. That's 4 million children in the UK. Our vision is a society free from child poverty, where all children can enjoy a childhood without financial hardship.

Story

I don't have a story, as such.

I run. I don't really enjoy it at the time (running, it turns out, is quite boring), but then I proper enjoy the endorphins after!

However, the reason I'm running the half marathon (other than for the pretty, shiny medal) is to help lift some poor kids out of poverty. It's pretty shameful that in a country as rich as the UK, around 18% of children live without the things you and I grew up with and take for granted. Aside from the misery of living in poverty, poor children are more likely to be involved in crime, to fail at school, to suffer from poor health and just generally have a pretty crappy life. It affects everyone, somehow.

For the record, my target time for the half marathon is 1hour 45minutes. I've donated £20 to myself already, and if I don't do the race in at least1hr 45, I'll donate £20 more.

So yea - donate what you can, help some poor kids and I'll run 13.1 miles, probably in the pissing down rain, in return.

Go!
