The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On the 25th April 2010, a team of extremely unfit fat controllers will be setting themselves a task of a lifetime. Jon Howlin, Billy Howlin, Mark Davies, Mark Khan, Julie Milewski and Michelle Howlin have not only entered the London Marathon 2010 but have challenged themselves to the impossible.  The team will be carrying Thomas the Tank Engine for 26.2 miles, in aid for the National Autistic Society and two family members Lily Beth Rodden and Liam Khan.

So why Thomas the Tank? Millions of children around the world love Thomas the Tank Engine. Parents everywhere have watched their children learn, grow and have fun with this cheeky little blue engine. For many children with autistic spectrum disorders, Thomas plays an even more important role. A 2002 study by the National Autistic Society in the UK has shown that Thomas the Tank Engine helps break through some of the barriers of many children with autism. Some parents of children with autism have reported leaps of emotion, imagination and symbolic play that were unimaginable before the child's relationship with Thomas

We hope to raise not only money but increased awareness for a charity which does so much for autism and the families involved.
