Story
I have a huge debt of thanks to pay to all who have sponsored, encouraged and put up with me over the past six months. I have finally completed a long-awaited ambition to run the marathon (it took me 3 hrs and 48 minutes by the way) but much more importantly raised well over my target in sponsorship for the excellent work of Winston's Wish. That's down to all who have generously given of their hard-earned income. I intend to thank you all personally but, in case life gets too busy and this takes a while (and it usually does) ... thanks!
Best wishes, Jon
Dear friends,
Thankyou for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am very pleased to be able to contribute to the invaluable work that Winston's Wish do in supporting young people throughout the UK during traumatic times of bereavement. Please take the time to check out their website if you have not already done so. http://www.winstonswish.org.uk/
In case you are wondering, to raise money for Winston's Wish I intend to run the London marathon on April 25th 2010. This is a huge challenge for me as, although I have wanted to do it for years, I always knew that the discipline of training would be tough. Until now I have not been ready to surrender a half-season of football in order to prepare and in November the early signs were that my knees and shins were struggling to cope with both activities! So the footie's had to go on the back-burner for a while (how WILL England cope without me in the summer?...) and I'm beginning to find a bit of routine for my running training. It's too early to start talking about finish times for the day - this is my first marathon so I have very little idea - just completing the race will do!
I would be very grateful if you felt able to support Winstons Wish by sponsoring my marathon attempt. You can do this by either using the conventional method - come and see me and I'll "write it down" - a bit retro I know but at least the server's never down! Or you can donate directly though this JustGiving site. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you for spending the time reading my blurb and I hope to hear from you soon,
Jon
