Hello,

Thank you for making it this far and I hope you are able to make a contribution, of any amount, to provide support to my chosen charity, The Place2Be.  It is a worthy cause and one I would like to raise as much money as possible for!

I have included a little bit of information for those interested in learning more about ThePlace2Be and the great work they are undertaking in our children's schools:

The Place2Be is a national children’s charity which works at a local level in schools across the UK providing emotional and therapeutic support to children, their families, teachers and other school staff. The Place2Be has over 500 volunteer counsellors who support over 50,000 children in 155 schools. We offer one to one counselling, group sessions, and a lunchtime sessions (The Place2Talk). We also support the whole school by supporting parents, teachers and other school staff.

The children we help are struggling with difficulties from worries about bullying and moving to secondary school, to trauma caused by bereavement, sexual abuse, changes to their family structure or neglect. They may have low self-esteem, be withdrawn or disruptive in class, or simply have nobody to talk to. They are overwhelmed by all kinds of challenges and the problems they face threaten to disrupt their learning and have long-term repercussions.

 

We give children the chance to explore their problems and share their feelings through talking, play and creative work. We enable them to cope so that they will be more able to make friends, learn and feel less worried. This prevents more serious mental health and behavioural problems later in life, and makes for a happier classroom environment.
