Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My wife Rebecca and I, through World Vision, sponsor Lucia Chibade, a girl from the Namachete region of Malawi. Our support offers Lucia safe schooling, and other basic requirements for enjoying a long and healthy life.

Through the businesses of Herm Island, we have, over the past three years, raised further funds for the region, and in particular in Lucia's village. My pictures show the progress of both Lucia, the direct benefits that she receives from World Vision, and also the additional benefits received by the village, including farming help, building help and planning for self sufficiency and the future.

Throughout 2011, I have decided to take on a number of challenges that I wouldn't have dreamt of doing in the past! The aim is to raise further money for the village, and to see Lucia's village become closer to being wholly independent in terms of food production and education. My challenges include:

The Herm run in August, Kayaking around Guernsey in June and doing a number of tasks such as washing up in the Mermaid Tavern and the White House Hotel, and working behind a bars. Any money earned will be added to the fund!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I would be enourmously grateful if you would help by making a donation of whatever you can afford.

Best wishes

Jonathan Watson.
