Dear Friends,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Some of you may already know that I having been training hard (twice around Richmond Park 4 times a week!!!) so that I will be in tip top condition to take part in the London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday 19th June. 56 miles of big hills, tough road conditions, sun & rain is not easy for a 40+ tubby like me, but it’s worth the pain to raise money for a fantastic charity called William's Fund. This charity was set up in memory of a little boy called William Dodd who went to school with my two sons Freddie and Will, but sadly lost his fight for life to cancer.
William's Fund was established in February 2001 in memory of William Dodd, a very brave little boy who died on December 12th 2000 at the age of 4 years and 9 months after a 2 year battle against an unknown form of cancer. William amazed everyone at how he coped, always smiling with a twinkle in his eye that won so many hearts.
Since William died, William’s Fund has raised significant monies for The Childhood Cancer Research Fund., which employs 2 researchers at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford to focus specifically on Childhood Cancer. This research programme is run by Dr. Mitchell who was William’s consultant, but it has no funding other than charity and no official fundraisers, so this charity aims to fund those researchers for the foreseeable future and all the profits raised by William's Fund go directly to the research programme.
Any help you can give would be gratefully appreciated,
Thank you,
Jon Diver
