Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  On 6th October 2013 I along with friends of mine be running the 10K at the Great Scottish Run in Glasow to raise funds for Yorkhill Children's Charity.

Ollie Joshua Collins was born on 28 March 2013 weighing 6lbs 2oz.  Ollie became very ill within 12 hours of birth and was transferred to Yorkhill hospital neonatal intensive care unit.  We were told soon after that he had a Congenital Heart Defect, Transposition of The Great Arteries, large hole in his heart and vessels in the wrong position.  The doctors were great in explaining everything to us, but without open heart surgery we would most definately lose Ollie.

Ollie had his heart surgery on 16 April 2013 when he was 19 days old under the care of cardiac surgeon Mr Danton and his team.  After spending 7 days in paediatric intensive care unit Ollie was back on the cardiac ward.  Ollie finally came home for the first time when he was 30 days old.

Had it not been for the hard work, skill and dedication of Mr Danton and his team at Yorkhill, Ollie would not be here with us today.

We will always be grateful for the treatment and care Ollie received in Yorkhill hospital and wish to raise funds for Yorkhill Children's Charity to show our appreciation.  Ollie will continue to be looked after by the cardiac team throughout his childhood.

The 10K is a huge challenge for me but if our brave boy can get through heart surgery, then I am sure I will manage this run! It's for a great cause and I am sure Ollie would agree!
