Hi, Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you will know, my brother, sister and I lost our beautiful mum to cancer in August 2009. My mum was diagnosed with unknown primary cancer but with a number of secondary cancers on 22 July and she then sadly and tragically passed away less than a month after being diagnosed on 19 August 2009-she had just turned 52 years old.
I was with my mum the day we heard the words "I'm afraid it isn't good news...you have cancer...and there is nothing we can do". I will never forget the first words my mum said at that point, I will never forget the look in her eye but more over, I will never forget that although she was fighting a losing battle, her overwhelming strength and determination to continue to be mum.
I took mum to every appointment, I made every phone call necessary to make her life as stress-free as possible and although we only knew the Macmillan nurses for a shortwhile, the difference they made was undescribeable.
When mum was diagnosed, I made mum the promise that I would cycle from London to Paris and the aim was that she would be waiting under the Eifel Tower. I never knew that time was against us at that point. I am still going to cycle to Paris and I am sure that she will be with every bit of the way, encourageing me as she always did.
It will be one whole year since losing mum on the second day of the ride and as hard as that will be, I hope that my contribution will help others and to thank Macmillan for the wonderful care they gave my mum and I.
