Story

Meet the Barnley's - Sue, Tom, Jack and Harry.  A family that always brings a smile to my face when they enter my thoughts...

Sue is my best friend in the whole world, we lived together in Blackpool and over the years have supported each other in good times, bad times but mainly lots and lots of laughter and partying... We were known as 'The Gainsborough Girls' taxi drivers knew where we lived as we had a reputation for being the party house - we used to ring a taxi to bring us booze and KFC's - oh the shame of it now!!!!!  We had many special year with lots of great friends..

I was overjoyed when our other best friend Pauline (Polly) introduced Sue to Tom aka John Travolta as I call him..  Sue and Tom were meant to be, written in the stars, soul mates you get the picture.. after a lovely wedding - very quickly after followed Jack handsome like his daddy, sensitive, gorgeous little Jack.... NOT long after that Harry arrived - 2nd child syndrome springs to mind - confident, cheeky, VERY cheeky, noisy, mischievous - very lovable....

Everything was as it should be - perfect family unit.....Until earlier this year when Harry my gorgeous 5 year old Godson was diagnosed with one of the most aggresive forms of Muscular Dystrophy Duchenne.

Whats Muscular Dystrophy? Well its a condition that will see Harry in a wheelchair by the time he reaches 10 years old.  His upper body will then begin to shut down due to this rare and painful condition leaving him locked inside his own body.  As a muscular degenerative disease eventually his heart will fail, almost certainly before he is 30.  The most difficult part - there is no cure, it will happen and its 100% fatal.

Sue and Tom have lots of dear friends and we all wish we could take this god awful illness away from Harry and there family - the sad truth is we can't.

So for now - we are living for today and try not to think to far into the future.

How can you help - I've started running at the age of 41!! my first official run for Muscular Dystrophy is the Santa Dash in Liverpool.  I do know there are many charities out there and we all have our own personal ones that affect our day to day lives.  However if Harry's story has touched you please support me and donate what you can.

I know its a tough read and I find it very hard to comprehend what my friends have to deal with on a daily basis, they have many challenges ahead, but with our love and support they will get there and hopefully the money we raise on this event and in the future will one day find a cure for Duhennes.

All my love and thank you for reading
