We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

My wife and your friend Sara Lawton was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2010. Within a few days the doctors informed us that it had already passed through her natural defences and had spread into her blood stream. It had settled on her spine and hips.

The cancer was incurrable and they gave her 1-5 years to live.

We all know what a fantastic friend, mother & wife she is and how she lives for our children, Harrison, Amelia & Gracie. She is a good friend to all and loved by many.

With this terrible news she has come out fighting and got through the gruelling treatment of Chemotherapy, double Mastecomy & Radiotherapy .

Despite still being in treatment she managed to organise and host her charity ball in October 2011 where with the love and support of friends she raised over £7050 for Cancer Research UK.

In December 2011 she was told that the cancer had spread to her brain. Again she indured more invasive treatment which has left its mark and now she is fighting again.

In 2011 our very dear friend Gaz Roberts competed in the Lanzorote Iron man and raised over £7000 for Cancer Research UK for Sara. What a guy!

I took the decision soon after that it was my turn to endure some pain for a good cause and persuaded my two good running buddies, Tony & Jane to enter the London Marathon 2012.

For a man who normally runs for no more than an hour this will be a mammoth task. As part of our training we ran the Folkestone half marathon in September 2011 and the thought of reaching that finishing line, turning around and doing it again is (at the moment) unthinkable. For Sara it is worth doing. She brings light and happiness to all our lives and I would urge you to sponsor me so that we can help prevent another family enduring what we have.

Cancer was something which other people got. This time it got us and has affected not only us but all that know and love Sara.

Help us find a cure and donate.

**Update 18.04.2012**

I just wanted to say thank you for all the kind messages and donations to Cancer Research UK. It truly warms the heart to see how many people are wishing me luck. Only a few days left until the big day but no nerves yet!

I would like to say a special thank you to the parents and staff of Selling Primary School, my colleagues from Kent Police, all our friends and family, the good people of Whitstable and complete strangers who have donated. Outstanding.

Forecast for Sunday is heavy rain showers & some sunshine so it least it will be cool. Our dear friends the Sumners are allowing us the use of their business premises (Romax.co.uk) in Greenwich to sleep the night before to save any travel problems on the day.

Sara commenced Chemotherapy last week after the cancer had spread again into more of her bones and now her Liver. She will be too ill to travel up to support us so will be watching with the children on the TV. She is an inspiration to us all.
