Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page which is in memory of my mother, June Aslin.
Our family has had a deep involvement with motorsport through several generations since the 1930s and mum was the most involved of us all. For over 30 years, her passion was rallying - and she wanted to help in every way possible: first marshalling, then as an RAC accredited timekeeper and for the last 20 years or so, being one of the pioneers and then leaders in rally safety radios. Without volunteers like June, rallying could hardly exist in the UK; and countless people have become first interested, then deeply involved in the safety radio community through her encouragement and help.
Her wish was always that she have no flowers at her funeral, but instead, there should be a request for donations to a charity benefitting motorsport. She and I both knew Richard Burns (he showed me how I should drive my rally car when he was still under driving age!) and I knew Michael Park, who is also commemorated by the Richard Burns Foundation. The work of the Foundation is exactly what she would want to see supported. I encourage you to honour her wishes and make a donation, however small, to the Foundation. Thank you in advance!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the Foundation and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
I know that many of you will have known June well over many years and I and my family thank you for your friendship to her. Your friendship and the whole rally community was incredibly important to her - we all miss her terribly, but know that she will be missing you too.
Sincerely,
David Aslin
