We are the MS Society. We are strong enough to stop MS together.

Story

This year will see the 30th anniversary of my mum's death. She was taken out by a number of things, including MS, and I've never forgiven it.
It is, like many diseases a nasty piece of work, ridding some of those who have it, not only of their health, but also their dignity.

There is rarely a day goes by that my mum doesn't come to mind for one reason or another. The picture above is Arlo on his first visit to her grave earlier this month.

Last year, I was
offered the opportunity to do the Three Peaks Challenge (thanks Rob!) and I thought it would be a great opportunity to not only spend a few days with some lovely folk, but also to raise a few quid for The Multiple Sclerosis Society

So, first weekend of June I hauled myself up three hills within 24 hours, setting off up Ben Nevis at 4pm on Saturday, then a quick drive down to Wasdale to set off up Scafell Pike at about 2-2.30am, and then down to north Wales for the final run up a hill, up Snowdon by 4pm. It was a fab weekend (other than the cracked rib, bashed knee and badly swollen/bruised wrist when I took a tumble on Snowdon.

Next up, we did the 10 in 10 up Keswick way, again, to support the work of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Ten Peaks, 17 miles and nearly 8000 feet of ascent in just under 9 hours, I ached a bit afterwards but it was nothing compared to the way my mum would struggle some days just to get out of bed. On the days she could.

This year I'm honoured to have been given the opportunity to enter the 10 in 10 again as part of the official George Fisher team Fisher's Folly. I don't like to ask as last year everybody was so kind in donating, but well, as they say, shy lads get n'owt.
