Hi

I've finally done it at 4hours 43minutes and it was brilliant!!! I had an absolutely amazing day yesterday with masses of support from all my family and friends and the crowd who really do keep you going.  The day started with rain but remained dry for the rest of the run so great weather conditions, if a little humid in parts. Fortunately with the work of my physio and Leanne during the training my knee kept good throughout and I have come away injury free, so far!! It was brilliant to see all my friends and family on the way round with banners, children and loud screams of encouragement and it really was just a little emotional to have so much support.

The hardest part were miles 22-24 but knowing there were friends at 25 really helped keep me going - despite the near miss on the bottles!!  Although not on record I did manage a robot finish for Suzi, albeit a slighty faster robot than usual I needed to get over that line. After finishing I managed to recuperate with Mars Bars, Cous Cous, fizzy sweets and a couple of beers and the following day felt pretty good.

I have just added up all the sponsorship to date and currently I am at £1150 so thank you to all of you for all of your sponsorship.  Your money will really help our young athletes to pursue their sporting dreams and become the best that they can, with grants to help them to attend events, buy new training equipment and kit and hopefully one day give them the chance to represent our country in their chosen sport.  If you didn't have time to sponsor me before you still can for up to another 2 weeks and any size contribution is really appreciated.  Jean Pickering who runs the 'Ron Pickering Memorial Fund' has been truly briliant and provided us all with t-shirts and masses of support throughout and kept me motivated so another thank-you to the charity.

Once again a big thank-you to everyone who came to support me on the day and to my brother for organising transport there and a big well done to him on also completing the marathon even after a stint with the medics!

As a final note if you have ever wanted to do the London Marathon then do it, it's a brilliant day, feels amazing and you get a medal! What more do you need?

More details on the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund can be found on the weblink on my page.

Thanks very much
Karen
