We did it!  Thanks to everyone who supported us.  It was hard work but thought the words "Never again" were muttered frequently I think we both actually enjoyed it.

My Dad and I are in training for a mamouth 136 mile cycle ride from one coast of England to the other.  We cycle form Whitehaven to Tyneside passing over the Penines on the way.  Neither of us have done anything quite like this before!

We are raising money on behalf of people with Rubenstein-Taybi Syndrome (RTS).  This is a rare syndrome which affects my younger sister.  Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome is a specific pattern of physical features and development disabilities, and is the result of a chromosomal abnormality, which occurs very early on in a baby's development in the womb.

The Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome UK Support Group is a registered charity. Its main aims are:
- to offer support to families and carers of those affected by Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome (RTS); and
- to help raise awareness of RTS amongst the medical community and the general population

It is funded almost entirely by fundraising events and voluntary donations.

People with RTS have a range of symptoms.  They have a characteristic physical appearance with a distinctive nose, highly-arched palate, downward-slanting eyes, heavy or highly-arched eyebrows, broad thumbs and big toes , smaller than average height, and in males, undescended testicles.

People with RTS have Learning disability - ranging from mild to severe. A small percentage will not develop speech.
They often have Feeding difficulties, particularly in the early months, eg difficulties in breast feeding, gastroesophagal reflux, vomiting (sometimes projectile); cardiac defects (most of which can be corrected or treated); eye defects eg. squint, tear duct obstruction, cataracts and glaucoma; constipation; lax muscle tone; high pain threshold.

Please support people with RTS by sponsoring us!
