When David said we should do something special to celebrate our 50th birthdays I thought perhaps a fortnight in Hawaii...........

Instead though we have decided to walk the Speyside way. 68 miles in total, partly following the route of the old Speyside railway line.

David Lily and I will all be taking part, although Lily gets a day off in the middle so she won't be walking quite so far. We have all chosen a charity (including Lily) and would very much appreciate any donations you could make.

I have decided to try to raise money for the Aberdeen and St. John Mountain Rescue Association. The Association was formed in order to provide financial support for Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Team and to remove the burden of fund raising from the Team members. The Aberdeen Mountain rescue Team itself has around 30 members the majority of whom live in or around Aberdeen, and they give their time entirely voluntarily. Callouts may come at any time of the day or night, 365 days a year and usually in bad weather .

Thankfully I have never needed their help, but many people do every year.
