We offer hope to families to transform the lives of sick children
Story
Hi my name Karen Wallace and I am running the Lochaber Marathon on 14 April 2013 and Berlin maraton on 29th Septmeber 2013 for Cara's Wish to Walk.
Cara Leathem was born on 11 January 2010, 9 weeks early. When Cara was 17 months old she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy which means she is unable to stand, walk or crawl because of the high tone in her legs. Cara is a happy intelligent little girl who loves Peppa Pig, Dora the Explorer, Mickey Mouse, books and playing with toys. Cara has been accepted to have a potentially life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) at St Louis childrens Hospital, Missouri, USA. Her family are trying to raise €60,000 for the surgery and aftercare. Cara will need intensive physio for a few years afterwards to reach her full potential. After the surgery it is hoped that Cara be able to learn to do all the things everyone else takes for granted and play more easily with her cousins and friends.
