Story

On behalf of Phil, Karen and Karl's family a special fund has been set up to provide a lasting legacy for the life of Karl Doran, whose brief life was cut short so tragically in an accident at Beamish on Sunday 22 July 2012.

All the funds raised will be used to help support children and young people, giving them the opportunity to learn about and directly experience working road steam engines, encouraging them from an early age to gain a passion for steam.

By giving children and young people the opportunity to directly experience what Karl loved so much, the Memorial Fund will help ensure that future generations are passed down the skills they will need to preserve and celebrate this important part of our industrial heritage, and road engines will continue to be preserved and operated safely for many years to come.

We would like to thank everyone from around the world for their kind words. If you would like to give to the Memorial Fund, we would be very grateful for your support.
