So on Sunday 7th February 2010 I hope to raise vital funds by undertaking a 100ft abseil at Bristol's Avon Gorge. I've also been challenged to dress up as a whale, and will do so (and also be photographed - all despite my personal horror at wearing any fancy dress at all) to elicit extra money...
It would be great if you could help me reach my ambitious target of £500, so please dig deep and sponsor me, I'd greatly appreciate your support!
Below is a little more information about the cause...

WDCS "Stop Whaling" campaign.
The ban on commercial whaling came into effect in 1986, yet since then over 30,000 whales have been killed by Japan, Iceland and Norway and pressure is mounting for the ban to be lifted.
Whaling is cruel, unsustainable and unnecessary. The long and infamous history of commercial whaling has demonstrated that it is impossible to ensure that hunts are properly regulated, sustainable and humane. There remains no humane way to kill a whale at seas.
WDCS rely almost entirely on the generosity of individuals like you to enable them to continue their vital work to keep the ban on commercial whaling in place. Your donation will help WDCS to:
Lobby the US Government to reassert its leadership role in the conservation of whales. WDCS have already met White House advisers and they want WDCS's advice.
Persuade the other governments which are members of the IWC to oppose the deal that would spell the end of the commercial whaling ban.
Continue to investigate and expose the use of whale products in goods such as pet foods.
Continue to raise awareness about the cruelty inflicted on these intelligent magnificent mammals.
