<p>Thanks for taking the time to visit&nbsp;our JustGiving page.&nbsp; We have now completed the walk, but would still appreciate your sponsorship to assist this vital cause.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>On 22nd January we are taking part in the local 'leg' of the 'Wives Walk on the Wild Side'.&nbsp; It is ar Rushcliffe Country Park, Notts and is for friends and family wishing to take park in the virtual walk who are based on UK mainland.&nbsp; <span style="font-family: Arial; color: black; font-size: 11.5pt;">The wives of the 2nd Battalion Mercian Regiment have committed to walk the distance between Holywood, Northern Ireland and Afghanistan to mark the deployment of the Battalion to Helmand Province this Autumn.&nbsp; This will be no mean feat as we are committing to a walk of some 6000km.&nbsp; The walk will be completed in Northern Ireland and hopefully in the 'mercian' homeland and as such it is a 'virtual' walk to Afghanistan.&nbsp;</span></p> <p>The 2 Mercian Benevolent Fund provides relief, either generally or individually, to past and present members of the regiment and the dependents who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress by making grants of money or providing/paying for items, services or facilities to reduce the need, hardship or stress.</p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
