Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, and for considering possible sponsorship.
I started running in July 2008, and the more I ran the more I wanted to run– so much so that I realised I was looking for a goal. Having watched the London Marathon for years from the comfort of my sofa, it was the obvious (big) one. I was lucky enough to find a place with the Blue Cross team, and committed to run and raise money on their behalf.
The Blue Cross is a fantastic charity for animals in trouble, a well deserving cause and one dear to me, animals have always been part of my life.
The London Marathon will be held on 25April, so just 9 weeks to go, and I am well into training. I’m now running up to 20 miles –oh the fun of it! At times it’s a lonely old trek, but I know it’s going to be worth those early Sunday mornings in the rain. (the snow was an interesting challenge too!)
Your sponsorship will be even more motivation in the remaining weeks, and certainly through the 26.1 miles on the day itself.
Your contribution to the Blue Cross would be so gratefully received, and put to very good use.
If you would like to know more about their work simply go to:

Thanks for reading the above, I shall try to update the page regularly on my progress – between runs and walking those dogs!

Update; 21st March 2010 - 5 Weeks to Go!!
Hello Everyone! Had a good few weeks of training, and now really starting to look forward to the big day! Need to start working out exactly what I am going to wear and of course will let you all know so that you can try and spot me on Telly!
Acheived a really good 18 Mile run on Saturday, and despite having to contend with rain, wind and a huge river in the road to run through - I managed a time of 2Hrs 45Mins so I am definitly on target for an approx 4-4.5Hr Marathon. However all along I have said just to finish and raise money for Blue Cross would simply be amazing - its strange though once the training starts how you start to push the boundries and targets! So with 5 weeks, my training schedule has another 2 long runs within it in the next 2 weeks, and then I am tapering down in preperation - the longest run during that time being 13 mile. (whoever would have thought a year ago I would not consider that a long run!!)
I should also mention at this point, it's not just me who has begun earnest preperations for the big day. My 'back-room' support staff have also begun to plan their day too!! More about these wonderful people in the next few weeks! But I am incredibly lucky to have such support from family and friends, this along with everyone's sponsorship and good wishes is definitly helping in the run up to the 26 miles!
So please - keep supporting and sponsoring me if you can - it really does help spur me on, and more importantly helps the Blue Cross.
Thanks - Kate

Update; 7th March 2010 - 7 Weeks to Go and I need a running Tom-Tom
Training has been going well for the past couple of weeks. Been able to get out in the mornings as it is lighter now and so running before work has re-commenced. The dogs are loving this and we are managing about 5-8 miles each day.
Today for my training, a 16 mile run was scheduled. So as normal I pre-planned my run on a mapometer online and printed the route out. At 7am this morning I left the house in the wonderful (if not a little cold) sunshine and set-off. I had planned a new route to enable me to finish at one of my friends houses so that I could grab a cup of tea and a catch-up before coming home. However, 2.5Hrs into the run I began seeing signs for villages in the opposite direction than I had intended to be. It would seem 'somehow' despite having a map and following it accordingly (or so I thought), I had taken a wrong turning and ended up way off route. After 3Hrs and no roads appearing to be in the correct direction, and no relative signs to indicate any positivity - I put in the enivitable call home 'I'm Lost'!!!!
Some-how I managed to reach a pub (after asking a few dog walkers!) and somehow I was found and rescued. Not the most succesful training run in some aspects, but the 16 miles did turn into 20 miles - so looking at the positive - I am still doing well!!!!
Thanks for all your continued support - It's just lucky I guess that the London Marathon is heavily marshalled and sign-posted so that I can't get lost!!!
Kate
