MPN Voice leads the way in supporting people with rare blood cancers called Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs), with accurate information and emotional support. We're funding research toward better treatments and one day a cure. Most importantly we offer hope to those affected by MPNs.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running this race for my sister Julie. She has suffered from a condition called Ankylosing Spondilitis for 15 years which is a cripling arthritic condition that affects her joints but mainly her spine.

During times of inflamation she suffers agonising pain and mobility and everyday life is incredibly difficult.

During the last 18months a routine blood test identified she also had a Myeloproliferative disorder.

Myeloproliferative disorders are a group of slow-growing blood cancers, including chronic myelogenous leukaemia, in which large numbers of abnormal red blood cells, white blood cells or platelets grow and spread in the bone marrow and the peripheral blood.

There is currently no cure for these disorders but there are treatments that are helping sufferers to lead a normal life.

Despite this she has shown the determination to remain active and has already completed a 10K race this year which is astounding considering  this time 2 years ago she could not walk wihout the aid of crutches.

Julie has give me the inspiration to take up running and I have been training with her over the last 2 months. I'm incredibly proud and want to do this to support her and also rise the the challenge of completing 13miles!

Wish me luck!
