Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving

This year i ran the London marathon. My charity was the Meningitis trust. I now have a place with the Great North run, which is in September!!

So here's my story..

There are two amazing people that have inspired me so much that they have inspired me to run these amazing challenges is to raise money for The Meningitis trust.. One being the most amazing man in my life - My dad & a Beautiful little girl called Alexis rose who at the age of just 19 months sadly passed away from Meningitis two years ago now. Her dad Alan Glynn is a very inspirational man, and now a very close friend of mine. Since his daughters death he has raised over £60,000. Incredible!

So here's the story about dad - When i was 16 (i am now 23) my dad Andrew Bangs, contracted the virus, Viral meningitis. Through on going help in Hospital from all the nurses and doctors he amazingly pulled through and is still here with us now. If dad did had left it any longer before ringing the doctor he may not have been so fortunate. Now every day of our lives we realise how lucky we are to have a dad in our lives with great health too!

This was the only reason i decided to run for the Meningitis Trust.. While doing so i met some amazing people there one of which was a beautiful person who i mentioned earlier.. Alan Glynn.. We became very good friends and he shared his story with me to why he was running the marathon, it made me realise how lucky our family are. This is his story of her..

"Alexis Rose, our beautiful baby daughter, was 19 months old when she died very suddenly of meningitis two years ago. She had bags of personality and was by nature a fighter- born nearly 3 months early and weighing 2lb 12 ounces she spent a while in hospital alongside her twin sister but quickly grew in strength. She was always laughing and making us laugh, we will never forget her toothy smile and the way she would look over to make sure people were watching before she did something naughty. She was so happy and healthy and we never dreamed that anything could ever take her away from us, but meningitis ended her life within hours. We have decided to continue Alexis's fight and refuse to let meningitis beat us by raising money to raise awareness of this terrible illness and provide vital support to families and survivors"

Unfortunately i was not lucky enough to meet this little champion but from what i know, from what Alan has told me is enough for me to want to go on to do this in memory of her.

Please dig deep into your pockets and help us raise awareness and let Alexis Rose's name live on!
