Now having jumped...
“That has to be the best experience ever! There were some definite nervous laughs during the training and whilst getting harnessed up before take off. The plane seemed to climb forever and when I looked at the altimeter we were only half way up! We finally got the nod that it was time to go and we shuffled to the edge of the aircraft. 3, 2, 1 and we were free falling. I thought I would panic or feel out of control but it seemed really natural and I couldn’t get over how safe I felt, thanks to Steve, my Black Knight instructor. The plane shrank to a tiny spec in the distance instantly; we dropped through 2 layers of clouds and spun 360 before the canopy was deployed. It was then really calm and peaceful all the way down, we even did a bit of sight seeing on route and my instructor gave me a guided tour from the sky, pointing out the drop zone, Upavon and his mum’s house. The landing, which was slightly wayward and not quite on the drop zone, was very gentle and when I thought I would feel relief to get to the ground all I wanted to do was go back up and do it all over again! I would recommend it to anyone; The Black Knights were brilliant and thank you to the SSAFA girls for organising it. Sponsorship is still coming in so I’ll let you know what the total is very soon but we're approaching £2,500 and LSC will double it!”
