Hi there!
On 25th April 2010 I am running the Virgin London Marathon - that's a whopping 26.2 miles!! Only 2 weeks to go!! Eeeek!!!
I'm well into my tapering now in my training. I completed the Oakley 20 miles on 28th March despite my knee problems so now it really is all downhill till the 25th April!!
Brief training history - Overall I was able to stick to my training schedule quite well and despite a few disruptions due to the snow in January I stayed on track. I completed the Silverstone Half Marathon on 14th March, it wasn't my best time due to the knee injury and I had to have some time off running and concentrating on cross training and resting/applying ice to the knee! On 7th March I ran the MK Half marathon and the weekend before that I ran the Hemel 17 mile training run in awful conditions - torrential rain and strong winds the whole way, but the tea and cakes at the end were amazing! :-) I ran 20 miles the weekend of the 20th/21st February - 14 miles on Saturday in MK and 6.2 miles on Sunday in the snow at the Winslow 10k.
I've decided to run for Willen Hospice - a registered charity that provides specialist care for people whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment. The Hospice is based at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes and they provide care for people aged 18 years and over including care for the carers and emotional support for friends and family. Willen Hospice has touched the lives of many people I know and is a thoroughly worthy cause whose 24 hour/7 day a week services are provided free of charge to patients and their families.
