Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This summer I, along with a large number of students from various Universities, will be travelling to South Africa to volunteer as a teaching assistant in a primary school in a township just outside Nelspruit. I am going with a completely volunteer-run charity called Tenteleni, a charity started with one project 10 years ago by a University Student from Durham and which has since expanded to enable many more to volunteer in many projects in countries within Sub-Saharan Africa. The charity aims to promote cultural exchange and inject enthusiasm into schools, without having to give any material objects, so the effect of the volunteer is long-lasting and sustainable. To do this placement, I need to raise the money to cover the cost of the project fee (weekday food and accomodation), the flights and insurance. All other costs will be covered by me. Along with the other students from Sheffield who are going we have already been fundraising by running cake sales, doing pub quizzes, t-shirt making, bar crawls and more, however we still need to raise more funds!
This is not in any way a holiday, I will be working very hard for eight weeks, for the whole school day and extra curricular placements as well. I would be very grateful if you could donate as much as possible.
